In Bollywood, maneuvers and makeovers are bound to happen but it happens such that everyone’s kept guessing. Yes, a hero who only did romantic roles, with his arms stretched out has leaped on to a different level altogether today! You are right; we are talking about the ultimate King of the tinsel town: Shah Rukh Khan. After creating magic on screen with his menacing avatar in Don 2 and playing the autistic Rizwan from ‘My Name is Khan’ to consummate perfection, Shah Rukh is looking for roles that give him an opportunity to evolve as an actor. Few days back, there was a buzz that SRK was approached to play the role of Jawaharlal Nehru in a Hollywood film. And now, tentatively our G.One’s supernatural powers have worked in his favour and rumours suggest that very soon he would be seen portraying the character of Dhyan Chand in an upcoming Hindi film.
Yes, if industry sources and reports are to be believed, our very own Badshah of Bollywood is all set to essay the role of the legendary Indian hockey player Dhyan Chand in his next film. Shah Rukh, who is known to experiment with his roles, is yet to give a nod to the film. But given the past records, he might just say a yes! Previously, Shah Rukh had created ripples in the industry with his majestic performance as the Indian hockey coach Kabir Khan in Yash Raj Film’s magnum opus ‘Chak De India’. Following the film, the nation roared to the anthem penned for the film when the country won the T20 World Cup.
The film was applauded both by the critics and the general audience and went on to become one of the most magnificently made films in the history of Hindi cinema. Shah Rukh has an impeccable and commendable power of expressions which help him carry out any stint with perfection. Over the years, we have watched him desperately trying to shed his romantic hero avatar and opt for versatility. Voila! Now he’s got what he wanted to. With a romantic film, an action film, and now a biopic under his sleeve, he must be one happy man!
Currently, he is busy shooting with Yash Chopra for his untitled romantic musical which brings about a refreshing change in the scenario by casting first time on screen couple Katrina and Shah Rukh together. The film has already grabbed eyeballs and the publicity and hype has been successful in providing the film with an alarming gravitas! Post Yash Chopra’s directorial return, SRK gears up to film ‘Chennai Express’ with Rohit Shetty of Golmaal fame! Hold on; the list doesn’t end there! Then there are reports that Farah Khan has convinced SRK to finish her long pending ‘Happy New Year’ but official confirmations on this are still pending. And finally now, he has landed up a role of a lifetime with the biopic of Dhyan Chand. While some industry insiders suggest that the Badshah might let go off this offer, since this film too revolves around Indian hockey, a territory that he had already conquered years back, we still believe he would give a nod. And why not? This is one role, which if carved nicely can be one of the most breath taking performances enlisted in the Hall of Fame of Hindi cinema. And who better than SRK, the undisputed global icon of the nation to carry out the task?
An ordinary man with an extra-ordinary Midas touch to Life, Shah Rukh Khan is a real hero, both on and off screen. No wonder, one can not deny that!
