Better known as the sister of hot-bod Shilpa Shetty, Shamita Shetty is a sexy Bollywood actress. She was born on 2nd February 1979 in the Bunt community in Udupi. She completed both her schooling and graduation from Mumbai.
Shamita made her debut in Aditya Chopra’s film ‘Mohabbatein’. The film was hugely successful, and her supposed affair with co-actor Uday Chopra gave her much attention. Thereafter, she appeared in item numbers in films like ‘Saathiya’ (the song ‘Chori Pe Chori’) and ‘Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai’ (the song ‘Sharara Sharara’).
The actress tasted her first solo success with the film ‘Zeher’, opposite Emraan Hashmi. She was also seen in minor roles in films like ‘Fareb’, ‘Bewafaa’ and ‘Cash’. In Fareb, she acted along with her sister Shilpa. Shamita made special appearances in a song each in ‘Heyy Babyy’ and ‘Hari Puttar’. She did a few films in the South as well.
Shamita was also a guest in popular TV show Bigg Boss Season 3. After a stay of 41 days, she opted to step out of the show to attend her sister Shilpa Shetty’s wedding with Raj Kundra.
Unfortunately, she has not tasted much success in films, which is why she decided to quit her acting career on 14th June 2011. She plans to build a career in interior designing.
