Mallika Sherawat is finally doing an item number in Priyadarshan’s “Tezz”, starring Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor and Zayed Khan. The song had earlier been offered to Sameera Reddy, and then Priyanka Chopra, but recent news confirms Mallika as the one performing in the item song.There is too much of chaos and confusion as to who is going to perform in the introductory item song in the Ratan Jain produced and Priyadarshan directed “Tezz”. Mallika Sherawat is the third choice for the song, and has confirmed her presence.
An insider reveals, “Sameera was the chosen one to star in the introductory item song of the film, opposite Ajay Devgn, Anil Kapoor and Zayed Khan. She had shed a lot of weight for the song and was almost ready to do it, when she came across some rumors that she was no longer doing the song since the makers thought that she was a bit too voluptuous for the song. Priyanka Chopra was then considered for the number, although Priyadarshan was still of the thought that Sameera was perfect for the character.”
The source also reveals further, “While Priyanka was still in talks with the producer and the director, Mallika started hinting at the producer, Ratan Jain, that she would be glad to do the number and that too, for a nominal amount.”
If sources are to be believed, a top fashion model was also being considered for the item song, but at last, Mallika has been finalized for performing in the song.
According to sources, “Lead actor Ajay Devgn was not too keen to work with Priyanka in the song, so the makers had no choice but to drop her. Things on Priyanka’s end were also not suitable as she had date problems. So finally Mallika has been signed. She will begin shooting once she is back from the US. It’s a double bonanza for her as first, she will shoot with Ajay, with whom she has never worked before, and second, she will be sporting an earthy and rustic look in the song!”
